A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO THE CAST OF AMAZON PRIME’S “WHEEL OF TIME”

Hello Everyone, I am Vahn Sedai, First Chair of the Brown Ajah at Weaves of the Wheel and I am here to give you an overview on the cast announcements on the upcoming Wheel of Time show from Amazon.

With the official WoT on Prime’s twitter book club staying relatively quiet last week on the casting front, and with a big announcement expected this week as they close the book club and filming restarts, the Brown Ajah here at Weaves of the Wheel thought now would be a good time to take a deep dive look into the cast so far of Amazon’s big budget production “Wheel of Time”


Moiraine Damodred – PLayed by Rosamund Pike

Oscar winning actress Pike, will be playing the first true instance we see of the mysterious Aes Sedai. Known and loved in the book as being Rand’s teacher and guide on his path to becoming the Dragon Reborn. Rosamund is known for a variety of movies including, Gone Girl, for which she received an Academy Award for best actress in her role as missing wife Amy Elliott Dunne. Miranda Frost in James Bond “Die Another Day” and more recently her role as Marie Curie in “Radioactive.”


Rand al’Thor – played by Josha Stradowski

Josha is to portray the central character of the Wheel of Time. A boy hidden from birth in a small village, who grows up to be the champion of those who stand against The Shadow. He will be showing us Rand’s journey from farm boy to ruler, as humanity fights for its survival. Josha’s most recent credits include TV series “High Flyers” and made for TV movie “Just Friends.”

Mat Cauthon –  PLAyed by Barney Harris

Barney is to play the irrepressible Mat Cauthon. From the same village as Rand and Co, Mat is a gentleman whose luck guides him like a lighthouse in a storm. His presence is vital to the success against the shadow.  His work includes British TV series, “Clique” and “The Hollow Crown”

Perrin Aybara – played by Marcus Rutherford

Marcus is taking on the role of Perrin, another of Rand’s childhood friends who must leave his simple Blacksmith life, and struggle to find balance among the duality that threatens to overpower him. This actor is most recently known for his work in TV series “Bulletproof” and film “Obey”

.Egwene al’Vere – played by Madeleine Madden

Madeleine is taking on the role of the simple village girl who grows up with Rand and goes on to forge her own significant destiny among the Aes Sedai. This actress is known for a selection of TV shows however, her most recent venture was on the Big Screen as Sammy from the “Dora the Explorer” movie.

Nynaeve al’Meara-  played by Zoë Robins

Zoe has her work cut out for her in portraying fan favourite character Nynaeve al’Meara. A healer who underestimates her true power and potential but refuses to back down and let evil win. Zoe is best known for her portrayal as the White Ranger in Power Rangers Ninja Steel and has experience in fantasy TV having appeared in 2 episodes of “The Shannara Chronicles.”

Lan Mandragoran – Played by Daniel Henney

Daniel will be portraying the pillar-stone that is al’Lan Mandragoran, guardian to Pike’s character Moiraine. But he is more than meets the eye and Daniel has quite the task on his hands showing us the true depth of the well loved Warder. Daniel is most well known for his portrayal of Matt Simmons in Criminal Minds and for stints on the Big Screen including X-men Wolverine Origins and Big Hero 6.

Thom Merrilin – played by Alexandre Willaume

Alexandre will be bringing to life the Gleeman Thom Merrilin. A gentlemen who appears more than a simple travelling entertainer. Beneath the surface his sharp intelligence and mysterious past will show him to be a key part in guiding the main players in this series. His most notable credits include TV shows “The Last Kingdom” and “The Head” (alongside fellow cast member Alvaro Morte) and Blockbuster movie “Tomb Raider”


Logain Ablar – Played by Alvaro Morte

With confirmation of an extended role, Alvaro Morte has the opportunity to show us the truly tragic story of the False Dragon, Logain Ablar. Morte is most famous for his role as Sergio “El Profesor” Marquina in the Spanish heist series Money Heist (La Casa De Papel) on Netflix.

Loial –  Played by Hammed Animashaun

Hammed will bring to life the gentle Ogier Loial, whose desire for exploration led to him leaving home at a young age (at least by the standard of the Ogier). His travels will lead him to joining the group and chronicling their journey, as well as many other significant contributions. This gentleman has recently been playing Bottom in the National Theatres live showing of “A Midsummer night’s Dream.”

Min Farshaw – Played by Kae Alexander

Kae will be introducing us to Min in season 1. While a minor role in the early books, Min becomes a person of significance to Rand and the to the story, as someone with a unique talent and a spirit to match. This well known actress work includes both “Game of Thrones” and “Maleficent” in recent times.

Siuan Sanche – Played by Sophie Okonedo

Sophie will give us the first glance of the true power of the Aes Sedai as their leader, known as the Amrylin Seat. A leader to whom Kings and Queens bow.  Siuan is a character of significant inner resolve and will stop at nothing to see the Dragon to the Last Battle. Sophie has an impressive list of credits, starring in films “Hotel Rwanda” for which she was nominated for the Acadamy Award for Best Actress, “Ace Ventura When Nature Calls”, “After Earth” and the upcoming “Death on the Nile.”

PADAN FAIN –  PLAYED BY JOHANN MYERS

Padan is a peddler from Lugard who makes his way to The Two Rivers where our story starts. Although much more than a simple peddler, he becomes the secondary antagonist for the series. Myers has his hand in many pots but is most well known for his role in movie “Medallion” alongside Jackie Chan.


Tam al’Thor -Played by Michael McElhatton

From the father of a villain to the father of our hero, Tam al’Thor is everyone’s favourite father figure. Michael is a Game of Thrones Alum as well as appearing in “Justice league.”

Abell Cauthon – Played by Christopher Sciueref

Father to Mat, Christopher has a lot of well known movies under his belt. The two most notable are “ 300 and “Skyfall.”

Natti Cauthon –  Played by Juliet Howland

Mother to Mat, this lady has been in a few notable films including. “The Painted Veil.”

Daise Congar – Played by Mandi Symonds

Probably the only Congar to hold respect in the Two Rivers, Daise is a known fan favourite. This actress has had a long career and has been in many notable in British television, with credits in shows including “Sea of Souls, The Bill and Doctors.”


Marin al’Vere  – Played by Lolita Chakrabarti

Her Honeycakes bring all the boys to the yard. Lolita will play mother to Egwene. This actresses most recent notable film is “A Casual Vacancy.”

Bran al’Vere – Played by Michael Tuahine

Village Mayor, Inn Keeper, Father to one of the most powerful women in the world. Another actor with a list of Television shows on their Resume. The most notable I personally feel is “Farscape”

Cenn Buie – Played by David Sterne

The cranky old thatcher will be played by David Stern who has had a wide ranging career with many shows including “Red Dwarf”, “Gentleman Jack” and the movie “A Knights Tale”

Leane Sharif – Played by Jennifer Cheon Garcia

Jen will be taking up duties as the Keeper of the Chronicles. The second in command to the White Tower and Aes Sedai. Her most notable recent works include “The 100 and Van Helsing.”

Liandrin Guirale – Played by Kate Fleetwood

English actress Kate will be playing the role of Liandrin, an Aes Sedai with a dark side. Kate has a significant selection of shows and Movies behind her including “Star Wars The Force Awakens” and “Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows”


Alanna Mosvani – Played by Priyanka Bose

An Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah who provides us with one of the most shockingly surprising moments of the entire series. Priyanka has a background in Bollywood and her latest movie is called “Pareeksha”

Kerene Nagashi – Played by Clare Perkins

A casting that suggests some flashbacks to the series prequel “New Spring” Karene was a leader among her Aes Sedai peers during Moiraines training years.  British soap fans will recognise Clare from“Holby City and “Eastenders”

.


Stepin (Warder) –  Played by Peter Franzén

Peter will play Stepin, Warder and protector to Karene Nagashi. Peter plays Harald Finehair on “Vikings”

.


Ihvon (Warder) – Played by Emmanuel Imani

A warder to Priyanka Bose’s character, Alanna. This Nigerian actor’s latest show “Cobra” recently hit our screens.

Maksim (Warder) – Played by Taylor Napier

Another Warder to Alanna. With an eclectic past his latest piece is called “Crazy Rich and Deadly.”

Aram – Played by Daryl McCormack

Aram is raised to a passive people known as the Tuatha’an, however his life will take some unexpected turns as the “Tinker with the sword”. Daryl has some great series’ under his belt including “Vikings and Peaky Blinders.”

Ilya –  Played by Maria Doyle Kennedy

Ilya is member of the travelling people known as the Tuatha’an and grandmother to Daryl McCormacks character, Aram. Maria is known for “The Tudors” and “Dexter”

Raen- Played by Narinder Samra

Husband to Ilya and grandfather to Aram, Raen is the leader (known as the Seeker or Madhi) of the Travelling people.His most recent, well known title is  “Christopher Robin.”

Basel Gill – Played by Darren Clarke

Royal Loyalist Innkeeper will have a reoccuring role throughout the series. Darren is known for his work on “Da Vinci’s Demons.”

Geofram Bornhald – Played by Stuart Graham

Stuart will play the Lord Captain of the Children of the Light, a fascist organisation who exist to enforce their will upon the people under the guise of the Light. This Actors most recent work can be seen on the TV show “Professionals”

Eamon Valda  – Played by Abdul Salis

A high ranking officer with a truly mean streak. Abdul starred in that well known favourite film “Love Actually.”

Master Grinwell –  Played by Pasha Bocarie

A friendly stranger met on the Caemlyn Road. Pasha is a British TV series regular with shows such as “Spooks and Emmerdale.” on his resume.

Mistress Grinwell – Played by Jennifer K Preston

Opens her home to two of the villagers. Jennifer’s most notable work is on the TV shows “12 Monkeys” and “Britannia”

Dana –  Played by Izuka Hoyle

In the mysterious role of “Dana” Izuka is known for her work on “Mary Queen of Scots.”
