The Wheel of Time had its regional and global premieres on Monday, 15 November. As part of it’s marketing initiative, Amazon invited a number of special guests to attend an early screening of the first two episodes of The Wheel of Time. Water and Shade’s Sam and Zoe were fortunate enough to visit their respective early releases, in Denver, Colorado (USA) and London (UK), respectively.
As fans with huge boners for the books, we’re gagging to talk to someone….anyone about what we saw, however we decided to keep it brief for those who haven’t had the chance to watch it yet.
Here are a few things you should know about the Wheel of Time TV show. There are no spoilers in this, but if you are really afraid of having any details from the show, go check out some of our other content.
Relationships between characters are different than you expect them to be
This is probably one of the most obvious changes from the source material. The sensibilities of this show are not what you plan on, but it works.
THE PACING IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT
You think you know something, but DO YOU? The questions raised in the book The Eye of the World are answered fairly quickly, but the same questions raised in the show… you go a bit of time before finding anything out. Perhaps they meant it to be that way?
THE ONE POWER
The Power is exactly as amazing as you want it to be. They really did their due diligence in making sure it lives up to what we expect.
WHO RUN THE WORLD?
There is a heavy emphasis on the women, especially on the role they play in the larger story. And the women absolutely SLAY. The conversations between the main characters focus on the importance of the ladies of Wheel of Time, and how they run the world. Because girls DO run the world.
IT WILL HAVE YOU SHOUTING MANETHEREN!
You WILL weep for Manetheren, because the Old Blood truly runs strong. By the Light, you will weep.
